although, technically, ALMOST NONE of the "Goths" today are actually goths (again...TECHINICALLY) unless they can prove they are of either Visigoth or Ostrogoth descent.
so they all got their labels wrong anyway.
and and btw, the 1700s weren't really all that Gothic either (medieval era was, LOL). unless you meant 19th century? (18 century was more Baroque and Rococo) 19th century is when things like Gothic horror novels and black as mourning color started to become present and prevalent.
also keep in mind that "goth" is not simply restricted to the Victorian era or the a certain group of people that existed back in Theodoric the Great's time. the term has evolved ever since, much like how "rock" doesn't simply mean a naturally occurring solid aggregate of minerals anymore. if you aren't clad in a bunch of stones or listen to boulders running down the hills, then you aren't "rock"?? if you aren't pure Germanic then you aren't truly "goth"?
Kynt is a fucking hypocrite. He mentioned on a social networking site his dislike of reality tv shows. Well well well, the motherfucker then becomes a cast member on one. Fuck that loser.
Yes, they are not dressed Gothic; they are dressed 80's PUNK, in much the same as Cyndi Lauper (in the eighties). Goth is more like Robert Smith from the Cure.
Notwithstanding, anyone, today, wearing Gothic fashion is merely self-identifying with post Romanesque era art, architecture and fashion; a connection with the 12th century etc.
