An interview wtih saxophonist composer and arranger Bob Mintzer includes a performance from the Bob Mintzer Big Band Live at MCG, featuring Kurt Elling.
good stuff... I bought this album at the international saxophone symposium after seeing Bob Mintzer's master clinic and concert there. Had a big influence me at the time.
I have been lucky to see Bob burn many, many times through the years with Yellojackets. One of my favorite tenor men and big inspiration for me. Having come up playing clarinet, I have a special appreciation for his clarinet work. There have been times I walked out of Yoshi's or some concert venue and had to plug my ears so my melted brains didn't run out, you know? Reminded myself, either I should quit playing or really start practicing. One of the guys that sets the bar. Great clip Bret!
nice! you really capture the human side to these artists....liked the way you use B&W footage for the interviews....Brad--you talented little devil you....
Great musician, wonderful person! I had the honor to play with him at the Heineken jazz fest in Puerto Rico some years ago and it was INCREDIBLE. Viva Bob!! -God Bless you-
