Running early is the best time. The colder and darker the better. I remember once I ran at 0530 in the middle of winter in the rain. I saw only 1 person that morning, he looked like a pro runner. As we passed each other we gave a slight nod, like we acknowledged each other as athletes and showed how proud we were.

We were the only 2 athletes out that day, no ipods or partners. Just us, working too hard for more than a slight nod to say good morning. It was somehow spiritual.
