After reading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince p 642-43, (spoiler alert!!) I wondered what the Mermish song at Dumbledore's funeral would sound like. Based on what J K Rowling said and my imagination, I wrote the Mermish response to death, battle, and those left to mourn.

Fare thee well
To the Fallen
Noble, valiant one.

Gather 'round
All together
Sing with sighing sound.

Bittersweet
We, the wounded,
Live as ghosts ourselves.

Never to forget
In the years that follow
Those we still love well.

Fallen
Fallen
Fallen
Fallen
Fallen . . .

  • Thank you! I'd love to record it with a choir--sopranos and altos for the beginning, a tenor solo for the "Fare thee well" part, sopranos and altos again for "gather round," everyone unison for "bittersweet" and sopranos for the falling with the round-like entrance, Everyone sings the final fallen.
