Rich Formidoni of Korg is no stranger to these pages, and so when we stopped by the Korg booth at the recent AES show, we were already familiar with many of the awesome DSD (a.k.a. 1-bit) recorders on showcase there. What we weren't expecting were a couple of exciting announcements from the world of Korg DSD recording.
Both bits of news have potentially radical implications for the mainstreaming of 1-bit recording formats. The first announcement had to do with the DSD conversion utility software, Korg AudioGate. The second announcement is one that might make DSD conversion software obsolete. . . We won't steal Rich's thunder; you'll just have to watch the video.
