This is kinda useless go kart.I have built plenty of wooden go carts similar to this one using bearings as wheels without a motor (like your version one). The reason it's useless because of the breaks. You cannot stop the cart while steering because you have a rope as your steering and you are depending on your hands for the breaks. Unless you have four hands, this project is fail. No offense, but this can be done in a much more professional way. Good luck!

If you use the motor the brakes would be useless!

what you could do is remove the string and control the steering with your legs and use your hand for the brakes but how would you controller the engine

i would make it like a trike, with bycycle hand brake and a twist throttle.
