  • Excellent. I also adore it when Clark Gable sings it in 'It Happened One Night'.

  • i think swearing is usually used to add to the tone of the song--he's hurtin'. if somebody says "i'm pissed," its different than "i'm fuckin' pissed." its a tone thing. i've always found it rather effective.

  • @Hajiftw It's a British song from 1867.

  • Who would have ever thought that Bruce would cover a song from 1867?!! I love it, and a couple of "F" bombs don't bother me. His band does great adding a circus atmosphere. One question though. Can anyone tell me what that contraption is on his right hand?

  • @FrankeeFraud many old folk songs and ballads are like that. for example, all my life i loved the song Clementine though i never paid the lyrics much mind. then i listened to them and what do ya know? its about Clementine's dad or lover (depending on the point of view) not being able to save poor Clementine from drowning. but i think theres something enchanting about a sad song sung in a somewhat happy tone u know? it gives it an extra spark in my opinion.

  • @TheGreatVarholy Upon hearing it several times over, I will admit that I was mistaken in my previous comment. This is fairly accurate and, while lacking the full orchestral accompaniment, it still has its own unique charm to it. Not to mention this is actually the full version of the song not the abbreivated version one is used to.

  • oh for the love of-- Come on now, the falsified accent is just plain damn embarassing. Bad enough ya foul it up with the slower music and the infernal swearing.

  • Funny, how this always sounded like such a fumy, happy, bouncy song. Until you listen to the lyrics, that is; then you realize it's a very sad song instead. Hmm.

  • As a circus and sideshow performer this moved me to near tears. Absolutely beautiful. Having the BOSS singing one of my all time faves. WOW. You still got it Bruce.

  • I am a nice person. Nice people , if they can't say anything nice, they don't say anything at all. I'm taking a shutup.
