DES MOINES, IA--

Lee described her two author appearances (with Celara Sun and Writer in the Library) at South East Polk High School in Pleasant Hill for National Library Week and at Woodward Public Library for the High Trestle Trail opening.

She discussed job-training opportunities with Creative Visions and Spectrum Resources, her visits to the Capital Crossroads and Des Moines City Council meetings, and presented video from opening day at the Downtown Farmers Market.

Headlines came from Iowa Bystander, Des Moines Register, Iowa City Press Citizen, KCCI.com, and WHO-TV. Resources also included press releases from Creative Visions, The Evelyn K. Davis Planning Committee, Iowa Workforce Development, and the office of Gov. Terry Branstad. Lee also used the Target Cluster and Margeting Analysis from Capital Crossroads, video from the Des Moines City Council, and the screening of Abused: The Postville Raid as resources.

Topics included jobs, green economy, wind energy, planning, transparency, tax revenue, food policy, factory farms, bike trails, and green building.

Lee concluded that although greed is real, green is real too. It is important that participants in the green economy make the choice to see through the glass clearly, not darkly in terms of policy, planning, and process.
