Every day, in urban areas, trees are cut down for various reasons. These trees are a veritable treasure trove of lumber that can be reclaimed, as opposed to finding its way to the junk yard or fireplace. As well, many of the species of wood growing locally in your area may be otherwise unavailable from lumber suppliers. This episode covers the steps required to reclaim such wood for turning.

  • You can use old motor oil for bar and chain lubricant. If you change your oil on your vehicle, then it's free.

  • @MrLeonard55 Would the dirt in the used motor oil have any effect on the life of the chain? or is it negligible?

  • what is the name of the instrumental song after "new york"?

    great videos by the way...

  • Nice video. Ain't free wood great?

  • It dosen't really seem to effect the longevity of the chain. I'm sure it does to some degree but i think it's pretty minimal. I just keep the chain sharp and with the cost of regular motor oil at around $4 a quart. I'll use the used oil. I haven't seen the price on chain oil for a while so i don't know how much it is. I'm trying to put the used oil to good use instead of it being thrown away or recycled by a company. Just trying to put used oil to a good use.
