It seems this toilet has lost it's power sadly. It's an Ideal Standard I've found out. White Celmac Sonata seat on it too.
I used this the other day and it had a poorer flush, but it wasn't as bad as this.
I had to pump the handle like hell to get a flush out of it, before it did flush, it was like pumping a portaloo toilet.
I had a look inside the cistern to see what was going on, couldn't see anything so it's diaphragm has gone. There were batteries and bits of rubbish in there though ... Hopefully this will get a new syphon soon.
Thanx randomness :-)

They do need rims, even if they rely on syphon action to empty the bowl. The rim is so the water get's spread all around the bowl rinsing it, helping with the swirl action and syphonic action to clear the bowl.

Thanx :-)
But dont US toilets have no use for rims as they dont flush like ours?

Oh wait I read your comment wrong earlier. But different toilets do seem strange, yes.
They have rims to spread the water around the bowl and rinse the whole bowl so it is clean. I suppose they would work rimless, but wouldn't clean the bowl so well.

I like the US ones only because they different to ours so seem strange, but your right..they do look the same.
I wonder why US toilets have rims as they not used like they are on washdown toilets?

I agree, the US ones aren't so nice. They always look the same, these give a nice change from the usual washdown style flush.

I see what you mean.
Those swirly flushes are my favouite..Oh apart from the ones you have on US toilets..siphon ones.

It is indeed quite a swirly flush for 90% of the bowl, only back left it seems to stop swirling.

Shame its lost its power,it looks abit of a swirly flush.
I like the waterhole though.
