Some Brazilians (not all) refuse to call themselves latinos. Yes, I know that, I'm Brazilian. But that's is completely stupid. We are latins, we speak a latin-derived language, we were colonized by a latin-european country. We share many cultural and historical roots with all latin American. So saying Brazilians are not latin is stupid and anyone who agrees with that is being stupid also. And yes, this was a creation of Brazilian elites, wanting to look like Anglo-Saxans. Pathetic

  • :D sounds amazing! I'm currently learning to play this on the keyboard- didn't know it was possible 2 move your hands that fast xx

  • @Nickoles2 Cara, quer um conselho do tempo da vovó, que desde essa época há quem faça esses comentários inflamados ? Vire o disco, que esse tema é discutido há trocentos anos, repetitivo e chato !

  • another day will be the time to read the discussion here: folks, I love that title, I love that way the orchestra played it - and Mr. Barenboim is a good one - he is helping - I think in many ways - in his own speciell ways and he had brought many people many lucky hours - So - have a good day!

  • @Nickoles2 >>> I am also a Brazilian and I do not agree with you when you say that we do not see ourselves as "latino-americanos". Still, you have to concede that Brazilians are a separate category from the rest of latin America for the simple fact that we do not speak Spanish and for that reason we have lived lives completely apart from our Spanish-speaking neighbors. Therefore, I would rather say that we Brazilians do not see ourselves as "hispanic", and that is absolutely true.

  • @Nickoles2

The point is not Brazilians trying to be anglo-saxans. The problem is the difference between a spanish colonization and a portuguese. We don't share the same language, have you noticed that? Of course I'm latin, french people are latin too, but our culture is too different. Imagine a country with portuguese/italian/germans/japanese/africans, plus the enormous country Brazil is.The question is not about refuse a identity, the question is refuse a simple comparison.got it?
