Warm ground does not equal 'arable'. The issue of WATER remains. Climate change predictions include sharp reductions in precipitation. Currently, the prairies depend heavilly on glacial runoff to supply irrigation water.

Nothing 'racist' about wanting to REDUCE immigration. Multi-RACIAL immigrants dilute the genetic flaws that creep into monoracial communities (e.g., the pure laine Québécois, with high rates of Tay-Sachs). But the Toronto Terror plot shows the faliure of multi-CULTURALISM.

Arable land will increase with global warming. About the only country in the world which will have any positive thigns happen from global warming is Canada. I'm just saying, your anti-immigration attitude couldm potentially lead to racism. And as for 5% of Canada's land being arable, that's still a lot of land. I think that all the praires are arable, aren't they? That's more than 5% I would think. Also, immigrants are probably more loyal to Canada and our ideals then most modern Canadians.

Yeah. The increase has been FRIGHTENING. Those quarter million plus people they import'll have to live SOMEWHERE. Most of the new developments are actually very dense and there's a lot of infills/brownfield development. However, you can't stop gobbling up farmland and natural areas (not to mention potable and irrigation water, and food), unless you slam the brakes on our insane immigration levels. Hard greenfield boundaries would also help. The environmentalists need to go after demographics.

Where are these masses of anti-American Canuck freedom-fighters going to get food? Only about 5% of Canada's land is arable. The Canadians of Convenience (like those Lebs we [mis]spent nearly $70M rescuing from their real country...only to have them move back to LEBANON after the war ended) we've been importing in bulk aren't gonna fight for Canada--they really don't have any emotional bond here.

I'd Worry more about starving, Lebensraum-seeking Muslims and Asians repeating what the Axis did.

We have WAY less people than the United States, and way more water than them. Once global warming starts hitting hard, we will want as much people as possible to offset American aggression.

Urban sprawl isn't going to stop until the Canadian Government caps immigration levels to below 'replacement' levels (less than 80,000 per year). There is no way we can continue with our completely unsustainable, absurdly high levels of immigration--over a QUARTER MILLION a year--and not have sprawl.

Regardless of how dense you build new developments, you'll be using former farmland and greenspace. We need to stand up to the developers' lobby and impose a hard cap on immigration, as in the UK.
