Bamboo is an amazing, amazing, amazing plant. It's the fastest growing grass in the world. It's purposes are many. But my favorite thing to do is simply watch it sway back and forth in the wind. It actually makes a lovely sound when the wind blows through its slender leaves. Being around my bamboo has been very inspirational, enlivening, and educational. I've learned so much for the bamboo. I hope that you can enjoy bamboo as much as I do.

Blessings,
Dave

  • it's thin due to the type of bamboo... but also because of where I live in the States... the temperate climate there prevents them from getting too thick. the fatter ones can't grow in my zone. There are over 1200 types of bamboo...

  • cool man ...i also have a small bamboo plantation...i began loving bamboo two years ago...i got like 15 different types of bamboo including two gigantic ones... congratulations on yours and keep loving bamboo just as much as i do...best wishes from mexico...

  • @chivyionn awesome!! keep growing the bamboo! Chau amigo.

  • David we are soul mates, I adore bamboo, almost obsessed by it, not quite sure why, there's something amazing about it I want to grow it but its so expensive to buy here, need to find a wild patch somewhere like you! Hugs xx

  • @lisesf Yeah, bamboo is so magic!! I'm sure that you can find some where you live -- you're in the states? Just keep an eye out for it in residential areas... And you could even ask people for a few of their and I'm sure they would allow you to dig 'em up. Blessings!! :)

  • Finally some of my bamboos look pretty established in their pots. Are you still interested in any?

I have decently established moso, heteroclada, rufa and bissetii so far and my flickr photostream can be accessed by typing in moso---->recent posts.

  • @stevelau1933 how much for the moso? What do you recommend for Long Island? I'm in zone 6/7.

  • I feel your energy.. lol

Just picked up some Bambusa Arundinacea and getting ready to plant.

  • is it bad that i talk to my plants ?

  • why is that bamboo so thin ? (not like the cool japanese style bamboo)

  • They are in 5 gallon pots most of them around 20 culms, most of them real bushy with new shoots coming up and around 1.5ft tall. I'm charging 32$ for these.

I'm in an average zone 6 and use 1 layer of plastic tarp to over-winter these guys so if you are half a zone warmer than me I would recommend it as long as you don't mind tarping it for the first 2 winters. Once they get taller and reach their mature form they can be fully hardy to zone 7A.
