This is another attempt at making Glitch Music out of damaged CDs similar to the albums Systemisch and 94 Diskont by Oval.
I made a compilation CD of 11 tracks. I drew on the CD surface with felt tip pen and then recorded the results. In some cases the music was cut up into little snippets interspersed with silences and clicks, I thought this was an interesting effect. I removed most of the clicks and slightly adjusted the snippets of sound to produce a steady pulse and then as the track builds the silences are eventually filled with other sounds. At other times during the initial recording the CD produced the familiar effect of getting stuck and banging out the same sound repeatedly and this can occasionally be heard in the track. I edited the track using ACID Xpress.

The accompanying film was made out of video I damaged and then edited together, with a few extra clips added. Afterwards I applied some effects.

  • is it ok if i put in something i made as a response? its my first try but it sounds pretty glitched up

  • @keozeo Yeah sure if you want to.

  • How do you play a damaged cd ? my pc doesn't play it..

  • @ItsSoulFlys Somebody called jsimp1234 has asked me this question already. You will find the answer to your question if you have a good look through the comments.

  • What techniques do you use the scratch the CD? Is it just random or do you scratch it in a way that gets that sort of beat? and what did the CD sound like before you scratched it... Dark ambient synths?

Good work, iv research Tone's stuff and thats a bit out there for me but i find this assessable. I want to use in a subtle way for my degree project

  • @thompson182uk The description I provided with the video should answer most of your questions.

  • I discovered this genre of music just yesterday, and I am absolutely hooked on it. Been on a binge, looking for some to listen to because I love it lol.

Its completely crazy and messes with your mind. I actually create trance music but I am dying to have go at glitch!
