The T-Rex Viper and Mudhoney were made for each other IMO. One is a classic Vibe and the other is a unique fuzz/distortion that tips its hat to the Fuzz Face. Together they make sweet, sweet music.

The video is in three parts: Viper clean, Viper and Mudhoney (with Mudhoney first in the chain) and Viper and Mudhoney (with Viper first in the chain). I did this to illustrate the differences that can be had by switching the order of fuzz and vibe. It's quite dramatic.

Have a listen and let me know what you think.

And thanks for watching!

  • T-rex Viper Vibe or Wilson Haze Vive? Which do you prefer?

  • @ytugly3 They're not that different to be honest. This one looks cooler though!

  • anything that sounds the least bit fuzzy that is with a vibe instantly makes me think of hendrix.... is that bad?

  • Only if you're thinking of him without clothes on. Then it might be a problem, yes. :) Sorry!! Thanks for watching!

  • Sounds really good ! Did you compare it to the microvibe ?

  • No, I don't have one. This is very good though. Thanks for watching!

  • I came here for the mudhoney... Now i want viper, DAMN IT!!

  • @Burgerman666 --Do most vibe pedals sound best with single coil pickups?

  • Great video demonstration....

You gotta love a demo with a Django Reinhardt intro !

Even played the appropriate song called Vipers dream.

  • I play a Strat through a Hot Rod De Ville via a mudhoney 2. Been thinking bout a lovepedal or a Soulvibe. I am now completely converted. Great demo man, thanks a million!!!

  • I'm stuck. I don't get the differences between vibrato and phase. I have a providence phaser because I want to replicate Floyd, Trower, Hendrix but would a Viper be a better pedal for me?

  • @brittanievorholt90 What movie? Huh?

  • Well I brought one...it's ok but it doesn't hold a candle next to the Bob Sweet versions....it's ok though but not really classic sounding. It's more modern...but it's ok. Voodoo lad's version is ok too but more deep sounding where as the T-Rex is brighter sounding so between the two it's a matter of ear and tastes......but the early Bob Sweet one's kills. Truly the best Un-vibe remake I ever heard.

  • @SuperB00gs Most strats don't even have the back's of the pots grounded. I start there and shield for a big difference.
