@mattiamusic I think thats because they have such natural ability they themselves dont really dissect playing like us mere humans do. To them its ingrained and they really cant explain how they do everything. Everything can be learned but there are very special people who elevate the art and dont really closely follow others. They create while others imitate. However I think influences are good to a point.

@tomdunne1 uhoh you done said the secret thing. they wish they could play like a kid that grew up in the church& his mom listened to aretha and james brown (my mom listened to Julie Andrews) &his dad maybe played organ in church.(my dad played polkas on accordian)so the fact that i can play any kind of funk blues jazz, finding"black" music in my early 20's KINDA LATE is a point of pride with me. yee dawg i aint black& i'm proud-that i acquired thru strenuous reprogramming some funk into my DNA

@fnkdrmmr it s really funny, cuz if blakey wuz 25 today he d be playing exactly the same as Aaron. he might do a little study into swing or bop, but i know blakey would be on whatever tip was happening now, and paying, and he'd be making Aaron drool over his funk r &b chops. RIP Art. People shouldn't be using your name in vain.
