Chapter 43: Audition: Part Two of Three

Sophia POV

I was so excited. I hadn't seen Joe for so long. I was so sure I would get him back. Joe, Joe, Joe. I loved the sound of his name. Mary could tell I was spacing out, and kept trying to keep me in reality. It didn't work at all. The line slowly moved forward, more, more, and more. It got so close that I could hear his voice, and I imagined him kissing me again. We were going to be together again. We would be in love. In love...

Mary smiled as she realized she was next. As the girl in front of us went in, I began to freak out. My happiness melted away. All I could see through the door was Kate with a pained expression on her face and Shannon speaking to her in a hushed voice, as though trying to comfort her. What the hell happened?

Guard at door: Do you have an audition?
Sophia: *staring blankly at Kate and Shannon, not paying attention*
Mary: *sighs, knowing she has to cover* I absolutely need her there for my audition. Please?
Guard: *sighs* Fine. But she does not get an audition.
Mary: Of course not. I don't even think she wanted one.
Guard: Is she okay?
Mary: Uh, I'm actually not sure. I'll find out. *hushed, to Sophia* Girl, what's wrong witchu?
Sophia: Kate...
Mary: *looks over* Don't worry, I'm sure nothing bad happened. She would've told us.
Sophia: *lets out a light breath* I guess you're right.

Joe POV

I tried to get through the auditions with a smile. We greeted each fan, asked them the part they were auditioning for, and if we were involved in the scene we did the parts with them. There were some horrible auditions, some people that were amazing, and some mediocre people. We had yet to find a good one for Nick's Girlfriend. They had all sucked, quite honestly.

Despite all the distractions, the fact that Sophia would come through the door any minute vying for my attention and to get together again made me queasy. I didn't know quite how to feel. I really liked Veronica. And Sophia and I fought for such a stupid reason. But... was the stupidness of the fight a reason to get back together or to stay separated? I got headaches thinking about it all.

We were on the last person, according to the list. Person 100. That was all they'd let audition for some reason. They better be a good actor and for Nick's Girlfriend. I realized Sophia and Mary still weren't here, and, glancing at Nick, he was thinking the same thing.

And then the door opened. And there they were. Just standing there.

Mary had the number 100 on her shirt, so we've found our Nick's Girlfriend, eh?

But Sophia just looked at Kate. She didn't send a glance my way. She ran over and began talking to her. A small part of my heart was breaking, but it was her friend. Of course she's thinking of her more.

Nick POV (AN: Let's move to the other drama happening at the same time!)

There she was, beautiful as ever. With a 100 right over her heart. She smiled at me and I grinned back. Casually, she began to speak.

Mary: Jonas.
Nick: Rennay. Your part?
Mary: Nick Lucas's Girlfriend.
Nick: Alright then. *grabs two scripts and walks over to her, then hands her one* Page three. *flips to the page as well*
Mary: *flips to the page, begins to read the lines* So. A band, huh? You and your brothers?
Nick: Yeah. It's pretty cool. You know, writing songs and touring and such.
Mary: It really does sound fun. *glances at the script* I've been thinking about you a lot, Nick.
Nick: Really? I've been thinking about you too.
Mary: And what do you mean by that?
Nick: I mean... Let's go out. On a date.
Mary: I've been waiting for those words to come out of your mouth for so long.

I don't know why, but after that I just kinda stopped reading the lines and wrapped my arms around her waist. She was breathless and just stared into my eyes. So I took that as a cue to continue. I pulled her closer and before I knew it our lips crushed together in so much passion I couldn't help but tilt her head back and make it more intense. I finally felt whole again. I don't know how long we were like that. But it was a long time, and I never wanted to stop. I had queasiness in my stomach; but it was the good kind. Eventually I pulled away and we rested our foreheads together.

Mary: I love you so much.
Nick: I love you too.
