Scott Thomas, Director of the Acts 29 Network, pulled Matt Chandler aside after his talk at the Houston 2009 Boot Camp to talk about his life and his church. Here Matt talks about two major elements of his personal walk with God: asking and planning the 'when' and how' of silence & solitude, and paying attention to what grows or deadens his affections for Jesus . Matt is the lead pastor of The Village Church in Highland Village, Texas. Additionally he serves on the Acts 29 Network's Board of Directors and is the Regional Coordinator for Texas.

  • "I can't follow sports too closely. I'm just too immature. I'll be emotionally affected by whether or not a 20 year old boy catches a ball. Honestly, well that's just sad."

That hit home. Never thought about it like that...how often i am not "emotionally affected" by who God is and what He's done. hmmm

  • @Edenslove Yes, the same happened with me. I was an addict of Counter-Strike, I would spend 8 hours+ / day playing it, I bought all kinds of gaming-gear to improve my 'skills', and after God saved my soul I just stopped, I found no pleasure in it anymore.. and that's just awesome when I remind myself how addicted I was, it's really God's miracle.

    To God be the glory!

  • Yes great quote about following sports. That doesn't mean if you follow sports there is something wrong with you. It just means for him he finds it pointless to get angry over a 20 yearold catching a ball when he can put his energy into God. Many people give up things they love or would like to love for God. This is just an example. I loved True Blood. I was a avid watcher. Then the Holy spirit laid it on my heart and I cant watch it no matter how cool everyone says it is. That is my thing.

  • My mom is Talks about Matt Chandler alot

  • So legit, indeed.

  • This really hit home! It spoke how important our relationship needs to be with God! I know there is little spritual transformation in religion and lots in relationship

  • Good stuff...with the world & life so busy...you gotta be quiet before the Lord daily

  • I understand what he is talking about here. So legit
