Five Democratic members of the U.S. Congress from the state of Maryland declared their support for Health Care for America Now!, (HCAN), on Oct. 31, 2008, at a press conference held at the AFSME headquarters in South Baltimore. Three members of the U.S. Congress, Rep. Elijah Cummings (7th D), Rep. C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger (2nd D), and Rep. John Sarbanes (3rd D), personally signed onto the statement of principles and also spoke at the event. Rep. Cummings said: Health care is a life and death issue. A lot of people in our society are dying because they cant afford the enormous cost of health care and they dont want to be a burden on their families...This is the United State of America. We can do better...We get our moral authority from how we treat our own people.
According to the press release, the statement of principles advocates quality health care for all, while opposing leaving Americas on their own with unregulated health insurance. An aide for Sen. Ben Cardin and Sen. Barbara Mikulski also signed on. The press conference was sponsored by Health Care for America Now, along with AFSME, and a host of other groups and organizations. Matt Weinstein, Maryland Coordinator for Health Care for America Now, and Director of Progressive Maryland, served as the moderator for the affair. Patrick Moran, Director of AFSME Maryland, introduced the program and was also one of the many speakers at the affair, along with Fred Mason, President of the Maryland/DC AFL-CIO. folks, have a look at the writings and action in this string.
Changed subject
refused to consider the topic and issue
did not value health care
always negative
as a parting shot marked each comment negative
Just who is shallow?
Now consider the presidential campaigns. In this string, vashwc is an example of the sort of campaign McCain has ran. A president who governed like that would be a total disaster.

Well, I'm sick of people who hate hate hate
and sick of the subject being changed away from health care on a health care video.
Universal health care coverage is important to lots of people

vashwc, if you are 65 and retired, then proper health care and non-privatized social security should be issues that are important to you.
Universal health care coverage is important to lots of people, especially those who might get sick (like we see in older persons).

Go find/start a string about your interests vashwc.
This video is about the necessity of health care, something you don't care about.
When you retire and switch health care plans, and find you or your spouse are suddenly denied coverage because of a now pre-existing condition, ...
Who will be in your corner?
JohnDeBunkTest 3 years ago
vashwc, Go read McCain's Speech to the AIPAC June 02, 2008.
Now why is it that McCainiacs will not even think about health care for your kids, but want you to hop on the Hate Talk Express.
hmmm, why?
JohnDeBunkTest 3 years ago
Is a smear campaign about who someone may be friends with more important than your kid's health care?
That's very McCain of you vashwc.
JohnDeBunkTest 3 years ago
Back to the issue. The issue is health care, and everyone deserves to have access to quality care when they need it, no matter what their political disagreements might be on other issues.
If you change jobs, then find out your kid is sick, and ooops it is now a pre-existing-condition ... and you cannot afford treatment ... that is how cruel the for profit system is in America.
JohnDeBunkTest 3 years ago
vashwc you are running a circular argument.
If you buy bagels, then you won't have enough money to buy lunch?
Since when is support for one country a reason to underfund necessities in your own country?
Canada and Britain have universal health care and it costs 1/2 of what Americans pay so these countries can do a better job of supporting their world neighbors.
Now quit trying to distract people with stupidity.

Health care is a truly important issue. now quit changing the subject to distract people.
