Reissued in High Definition with additional part of adding recipient's name and artist's signature. Chinese Calligraphy Scroll "Peace Love Joy (和平愛喜)"
Writing "Peace Love Joy" in cursive and semi-cursive Chinese calligraphy for Katia from Russia during a Chinese music concert of Master Betty Zhang in McKinney Performing Arts Center in Texas. The writing was done on a pre-mounted blank scroll with printed dragons in light gold. Though the pre-mounted blank scroll can sometimes be wrinkled due to handling, the wrinkles can be removed with an iron. Like music performers trying to play correct notes, writing on a pre-mounted scroll can be risky since the Chinese ink cannot be changed. So I humbly asked the audience to understand and be as quiet as possible to avoid any distraction; otherwise, I lose the money and the scroll if a single stroke or any artistic detail has disappointed me.
First two characters ( 和平 ) mean peace; third ( 愛 ) love; last ( 喜 ) joy.

Nothing has come along to take the place of this video after seeing it seven months ago. It seems we are all fascinated by someone in a risky situation, as here, distracting sounds and the pattern of the dragon right where the calligraphy is being done. This is a triumph of the human spirit and an inspiration to anyone in whatever they might be doing in their pursuit of excellence. It is touching in the humble way it is signed, as if in reverence to the magnitude of these universal words.

I seem to be holding my breath every time that I watch this video. Each time the gorgeous silk seems more intimidating. It is like standing on the edge of a cliff, and when the distracting noises start, it is like some rocks starting to slide and fall. The calligraphy is truly awesome. I watch closely, but I keep wondering just how did he do this. This video is my definition of "grace under pressure". It is so true, inhybndl, "full of blessings." Spruce

My Russian friends are friends of Nastia Liukin...On behalf of her winning of gold medal in August 2008 Olympics at that time, I decided to give the scroll to them. What I cared most was that people might barge in and talk to me during writing a word or a stroke - and it did happen.
