Some people just don't understand. This and an "Apogee MIC" means you could make studio quality tracks anywhere. Edit on the COUCH! Yes, you can do that with a laptop, but there are some cool advantages. First, this setup is extremely portable and could be done essentially anywhere, and with 3G possible to create and post to the web from ANYWHERE. Secondly, A handheld device with no floor noise would be a lifesaver to someone recording by themselves... think about that last bit for a minute.

I think as an iPad is mainly useful on the road, in a train in the park in the hotel and so on, and all of this places are not very useful recording surroundings it would have made much more sense to focus on a really good sequencer with vsti support and put audio as an extra.
I dont see people using the ipad in a studio maybe it is a good device for recording something live...Still very impressive!

Damnnnnn just give me that PSP channel-strip in vst form!!!! Pretty Please ;-)

k simple question... when is it going to be available? As in an actual release date (not 1st Quarter... blah blah)

@FSK1138 if you watch the guy demoing it at the NAMM 2012 he actually mutes some of the tracks and solos the drums so yeah it is a 32 track recording not 48 but still very good and I dont think a new product is made to replace an old product its just a new product and certainly you dont have to change the way you record if it works for you.

the video only shows me that the audio that your hearing is not live ... and 48 tracks can take up alot of space - what about undos - at what point is it just better to use a laptop or desktop
this is not a game changer just what pc/mac has been doing for the past 10 years
Is IK Multimedia IRig or IRig Mic supported? I think not, because the input is over the charge input (with camera connection kit for USB Audio Interfaces), or maybe the Alesis IO Dock.

@bptassone The iRig should be supported, since this is no different than recording through the built-in mic or a headset.

@MrRidisc Auria supports AAF import/export, so sessions can be transferred back and forth between most major DAWs.
