What about a finshed engine at prestonservices(.)co(.)uk they sell large generator sets like this and they have boilers.

Given that the early design would be inefficient and maintenance intensive, I would of course prefer a modern design. The economy looks like it is headed for a meltdown and it would be practical to have a wood fired generator. I did run into a promising design, yet haven't had the time to explore it. Try Googling the URL.

Ahh rgr that. I'm not sure where to find plans for boilers, you are talking about a modern type right? These boilers are very inefficient and maintenance intensive (fire tube)

Thought he was too extreme as well, but then did some research. My primary concern is the economy which I had under my belt before running into Ron Paul. Widely known and respected investors such as Jim Rogers, Peter Schiff, Warren Buffet, and George Soros generally agree with Ron Paul that we are headed for the worst downturn since the Great Depression, possibly worse. I sold property in Nov 2005 at the top, and all stocks in Dec. anticipating the recent 'crash'.
