Here's superb Ms. Peters, singing Victor Herbert's "Italian Street Song," from "Naughty Marietta." John Mauceri, conductor, is coupled with Ms. Peters. Just two brilliant folks from the Big Apple!
if you look at the hall, some sort of catering room or such, with low ceilings, i think the effects fo the sound are inevitable. after the opening phrases, the conductior seems to understand the problem--as does roberta peters judging by the look on her face at the opening, withc the conductor seems to see and respond to. amazingly, as at the huge met, despite the compeittio from the loud orchestra, and poor acoustics, peters voice cuts through easily in the upper voice. brava peters!
Roberta and John- How wonderful. I miss this voice I grew up hearing. So sad that the Met bypassed here for all kinds of roles that she should have sung, even though she gave them her full artistic career.
I agree with you, Brent. She had to compete with an orchestra that supposedly accompanies an artist, right? She still is the best!

Roberta Sounds great!
There is no control of the orchestra however! It sounds as though they are competing with her!!!
