The song "Keys" from the new musical "Passing Strange" playing at the Belasco Theatre. The show (and this song) was written by Stew and Heidi Rodewald.

In the show, this song immediately follows the song "Amsterdam". Both come towards the end of the first act.

I am not associated with the production in anyway, nor do I claim any copyright. See end of video for statement of willing removal.

  • thank God..because there needs to be a black musical that reflects all the variations, shades and cultures of black, rather than just one idea. it shows a different POV.

I love how at the end of Amsterdam his Mother says "Why don't you want to be around your own people?". That line is all too familiar for so many people.

  • This is such an amazing show. One of the best new shows in years.

  • It may address black issues but I love this play with everything I've got. I think it hit me the exact way Stew wanted it to. I will talk about this work of art for the rest of my life.

  • @TRASHYgah I know exactly what you mean. I'm Latin & I still felt the connection. I could relate to it. It's just so universal. I don't even think Stew & the cast knew exactly of the power this musical is charged with.

  • Can you deal with the real?

  • @bluewizowl i saw this song performed at the tony's and was totally not feeling it, but after seeing the whole show, i am in love. the show in its entirety is pretty life-changing. :)

  • I fell in love with this song when I first heard this.

  • Sounds silly but i am Bi Racial (Quarter black) and always wondered where exactly i fit in with the world, cause i don't look black, or white. I love this musical, even though it's a "Black musical" because it looks at the "Where do i fit in" issue.
