Studying a Jaguar in the Amazon- WWF

As part of WWF's AREAS Amazonia Project, scientists tranquilize a young jaguar, record it's weight, measures it and collects samples for research. The scientists have also placed a collar on the animal to monitor its movements and protect its jungle habitat.

Three cheers for WWF!  They DO great work and DO truly care about preserving wildlife. "We" have screwed up our environment by not taking proper care of it. At least, WWF is trying to right mankind's screw up!

clearly these people are all about helping the animals, not annoying them and killing them, they've thought about every factor possible in how it could effect the animal and made sure it doesn't happen, clearly the collar would be a bit annoying, but they usually just leave it on the animal for a little while then take it off, or it just falls off, they wouldn't purposely hurt an animal

Some of you guys are very selfish. They do this to help the animal not hurt it! They proboly waterproof so it wont shock it. And they cant put A chip in it because what chips are for is to track it and they want to do wayy more that that...they probaly want to see what it eats, if it finds traps or poachers, and all that kind of stuff so dont think its funny to make fun of the big cat because it has a big collar on it. At least it wont die!

yeah. what the fuck. thats bullshit to put a big bulky collar on it. what if it malfunctions and shocks the thing? or if it gets stuck on something?
