25th May 2010

"Over the new year 2009-2010, an international group of 1500 men and women from 42 nations went to Egypt to join a Freedom March to Gaza. They did this to protest the current blockade of Gaza. To protest the fact that the people of Gaza live in a virtual prison. To protest the fact that a year after the terror attack by Israeli armed forces destroyed most of their homes, hospitals, schools, and other public buildings, they have no possibility to rebuild because their borders are closed. The would be Freedom Marchers wanted to peacefully draw attention to the predicament of the Palestinian population of Gaza. The Egyptian government, (funded to the tune of $2.1 billion a year, by us, the US tax payers), would not allow the marchers to approach Gaza. How lame is that? And how predictable! I live in the USA and during this time Dec 25th 2009-Jan3rd 2010 I saw no reference to Gaza or the Freedom March or the multi national protesters gathered there. Anyway I was moved, in the circumstances, to record a new version of " We shall overcome". It seems appropriate.

Roger Waters

  • the problem in palestine, is almost symbolic for mankind, if we want to ignore/ forget it we can continue till the end of time, for since the begining of time paletinians were throwing stones at goliaths, it is a holy land for all, but even believers remember god when they are in need. dont forget the pain and injustices, we are responsable, waters is a good example, p.k.' music is out of this world, but waters is it.s heart becuase of that pain he won't let go ....

  • "My very special heartfelt Thank You to all of the members of Pink Floyd, past and present. Your work has been, and remains, invaluable to the awakening of humankind upon Mother Earth. The Stars to each of you! " - Joshua the Christ (Jesus)

  • Keep singing, Roger. Keep rocking.

  • Ass Hole

  • Palestinian need freedom like all people

  • I'm glad that Waters TRULY cares about Palestinians. I'm expecting his appearance in following South Park episodes. Oh, BTW this song sucks at all but I'm still thinkin' his work with PF was amazing (Echoes, whole lyrics on TDSOTM and Animals, even The Wall, and so on and so on).

  • I'm in the same crowd, hoping one day there is peace for all. I am the majority, that support neither Likud nor Hamas. I agree with this post: Pre-67 borders and an Israeli Labor-Fatah alliance would be a good start, as would the separation of religious struggle from armed warfare on both sides. May the wall be replaced by a bridge of reason and understanding.

Is this so hard to dream of peace for all?

  • Roger Waters has always been one of my biggest heroes! I love this song and this man!
