Thank god someone finally put a video up for the Eris.
I owned an iPhone before this and figured the screen was made of the same material, and the first thing I did was take a pocket knife to (a non-LCD corner of) the screen and it didn't scratch at all.
Your tests were a tad rougher, and pretty confidence inspiring w/ regards to the toughness of the phone.

Plus.... People, it's not like he's saying it's indestructible! He's saying that it can take some damage not that it never breaks! Bloody imbeciles. -.-;;

Actually...I dropped my phonw between the seats in my truck and it simply bounced off the center console and landed on the steel frame of the seat. This put a nice little scratch on it that does not buff out. I believe this video is a bit decieving on how he is using the knife...try using the point of the knife not the edge.

@chiptify I'm not decieving anyone. The knife doesn't scratch it, no matter how I do it.
What it sounds like to me is that either your screen found some sand on the way down (Which is very likely in a CAR, especially between the center console and the seat, which is the hardest to clean), or it hit the steel frame hard enough to chip it. Note that I didn't say scratch, because while glass does chip, steel will always have a hard time cutting any glass, unless it's a hardened steel file.
