  • Thanks for this. It was a genuinely illuminating and interesting discussion.

I do have to admit that I'm probably going to buy Stewart's book precisely because I **am** interested in how one word can change a joke...

(pant-colour info would just have been a plus)

  • Excellent. Lee is a fantastic comedian and that was very illuminating about the man and his craft.

  • Thanks for posting, nice to see like minded(to an extent) individuals still exist.

  • I bought Stewart's book because I'd read it explained why "wool" is a funny word. Turns out it didn't, and just said that "wool" was a funny word and listed some others. I was genuinely disappointed by this.

I am the king of dull

  • Looks like he's just had a jog, to be honest.

  • such a theruputic voice just listening to him is so calming

  • Brilliant. Thank you for doing this interview and posting.

  • He's so insightful. I always find myself looking up a word that he says or learning something I didn't know or seeing things from a completely different perspective when I hear him speak about something, in stand up and real life.

  • @antmartainexperience I must agree. Giving a few pounds to someone like Stewart, who entertains in the way he does, is no trouble for me, not considering the honest genuine laughs I get from it.

  • I think it's quite likely that interviews like this have recouped a significant ammount of the lost income from torrent sites. I've always downloaded quite aggressively on the basis that my individual sale wouldn't make or break an artist, but I really admire the uncomprimising content Stewart Lee is choosing to put out, and being part of a semi-minority giving him £20 or so a year is nothing compared to how genuinely enriching his work has been to me.

  • Crab apples are apples but they're not crabs and you shouldn't eat them because they are often unpleasantly tart. Why not pick them anyway and use them in a chutney or just lob them at trains or cars?
