I just got my new Canon XL2 in the mail. I recorded a few shots in my room moments after I opened the box. I used no settings at all; this is completely raw. The footage is amazing in for my first time using something I barely know how to work. A few artsy/random shots to test it out, and also to see how badly YouTube butchers my 12mb h.264 file.

  • @MichaelSirois

    guess much :)

  • @natebombdiggitydawg It's a HD Camcorder... But it costs 5000€. I think that's about 4000 US-Dollars

Sorry for my English, And I hope my Infromations are correct

  • @MichaelSirois I want to get it after I finish Uni, a sort of treat for all the hard work I will be putting in once I start :)

  • @timelessfilmscenes Right, and I've told people this over and over again (as you can see in my comments from the past). However, I think that the DVS is actually second to the XL-2 for a number of reasons. The fact that the XL-2 is native 16:9 widescreen (as opposed to the DVXs native 4:3) is crucial in terms of cinematic production. The DVX has to crop the picture to get widescreen whereas the XL-2's much wider natural frame doesn't have to.

  • Wait is this a DSLR? Or a camcorder? I want!

  • Nice test looks great and great music. Look forward to seeing more of your stuff.

But just one correction the HD version of the XL2 is the XL-H1.

The XH-A1 is the HD version of the GL2 (as well as the GL1).

The XL2 is a great SD camera second only to the DVX100a, these two cams are the only Standard Def cameras that have True 24p / 30p shooting modes.
