Other things that mean you have a mental disorder; Fangirlhood, playing D&D, Acting, watching movies, being a starving artist artists, being romantic, writing, lying, shovanism,. femanism, watching magic shows, being different, expressing your emotions, writing poetry, being an aggressive atheist. You have been warned! You are all insane!
Let's see... none. Not a single person in my family is a theist. If you don't think that theists are fuckwits that we'd be better off without, that doesn't mean that I am somehow being a jerk in saying so. No, what that means is very simply that you haven't been paying attention to the history of theology.
Your comment only clarifies everything said. And again, like I said to someone that replied to me, I didn't claim validity of anything. Of course I see my view of truth ast best, but I didn't argue that religion has never been a source of negativity in the past, and I certainly don't denie it's negative effects of today. That was never my point at all.
I never clarified religion as been something of purity. But thanks for assuming so without any information regarding such a faith based claim. I know of someon with cancer terminally ill and has their belief. I may not be a believer but I could never take that from that person. Would I clarify myself honestly that I do not believe in a supreme being, sure. But I would never come down on people with such a negative light. But hey, even these people dieing areall equally "fuckwits" at best, right?
With all the stresses of life, I don't blame people for their turn towards comfort in faith and even non-faith. Life's a bitch But we all tend point the finger at others to forget our own eventual decay.
You have a lot to say about not believing in a thing, why are you so concerned? Why do you care if people choose not to have a religion? I can see why atheist are complaining. It is because up until yesterday science was stifled by religious non sense. Religion has been causing human suffering on a massive scale. Now we have a president who is helping us regain technology because he has relegated religions influence to the back ground where it should be according to the Constitution.
Why? Because as of late I known a lot of people whom have passed and someone I love dearly suffered a stroke, and may never be the same again. Instead of worrying how has it right, I see why people cling to something, regardlss of what that something is. Don't get me wrong. I'm happy the skeptic community is growing, in part thanks to interventions by individuals and groups such as the Rational Response Squad.
The problem is everything is now more about competition than it is actually bringing helpful info to better one's life.. Notice I didn't argue validity, I am more upset over the attempts at making this all one big dick measuring contest between differing groups of people. Sure, healthy debate is fine, but the old "I'm better then those types" is a crock of shit. People feel the need to be cold and absolutely uncaring.
Though I know have no religious retraints, I do feel atheism has become this new stafey net for many in need. Since there is no radical belief in a heaven, hell, etc, so they instead find that level of comfort in a different way, through numbers. Thats not bad but the point is somehow atheism has become the new fad, much like light colored scarfs in spring time.
