My 3 first encounter with Gunther and his Crimson Grimoire. This is the Lv70 cap quest BCNM for Scholar.

Scholar being a stratagem, using knowledge and logic to controle the battlefield, the fight is built with the idea that you need to come in with -THE- perfect plan and skills. There isn't 50 different strategy. There's only 1 : destroy the grimoire in 2 nukes, dispell Shell on Gunther, use Tabula Rasa (2hour skill), and nuke to death, modifying all your spell with the correct Stratagem...

I saw what's ahead of me... most prolyl gonna make it tommorow night, or next time I try it !

( Cheezy video editing... and I don't care, I'm going to bed... kthxbye )

  • ok so fill in the blank for me, the scholar is....?

  • A final fantasy XI class ?

A mage class able to do white and black magic, with lower base potency then White and Black mages, but with modifier skills then can boost those spells in singular ways providing the SCH with some pretty unique spells in the end...

  • For instance, making Stoneskin a AoE spell on party and such...

  • if you blinkband and stoneskin torque up focus on gunther and quick. he'll go down hard if you do it before he gets shell up

  • Just look a bit down in the comments.

I pwnd that guy after a few try.

At Lv70, it's all about luck + taking the book out asap...

  • Great Job! Bro!

    hehe i was 1/11

    tough fight aint it?

heard it was the hardest LB% ingame xD

  • Thanks !

Being a tarutaru, I switched the Sandstorm/Klimaform for a Shell III. (geting killed in 2 nukes = bad)

When I won, Shell III was actually useless. 2 nukes on book, 3 on guy.

I was actually lucky as the book was light based, but used Regen II instead of Cure IV !!!

So yeah, I did the exact same stuff as the 5-6 previous attempt, but I got lucky. He did not heal, he did not buff, he did not resist.

No DMG taken, no Dispell needed.

    LUCK.

    1 min. 28 sec. :P

  • @Mudified wow thats really cool i havent played since they added the last expansion lol so had no clue... but i see they do alot of spell casting its looks really fun makes me want to start my account again lol

  • I get the honor of facing this G5 soon. 68SCH It definitely looks a lot harder than the RDM fight and is mainly about luck that the grimore is of the right element. I'll be carefully studying this video more as that time comes as im a taru as well and I don't want to make the same mistakes. 5/5 Great job on beating him!

  • nice job! This fight IS by far the hardest of the limits~

Scholar being my first job I had to do it as a lvl70 as well =(

    I'm finally 1/8 on this fight~

    used Blinkband + Cream Puff~

all the RDMs out there will say that their limit was the hardest... but i strongly disagree~

Sure RDM limit is tough as hell but what makes SCH even harder is that its based mostly on luck.

  • I didnt use sandstorm and klimaform

what i did was blinkband and creampuff b4 fight.

also to note your stats were way better than mine...

its basically all about timing really, if you time it all wrong your screwed...

and true there is only one strategy to win,

i can say i got lucky but, i 3shotted the grimoire cuz i got resisted and i thought i would lose but i didnt xD
