Title: The symphony of war
Song: Scarborough fair
Artist: Simon and garfunknel

"The world has achieved brilliance without wisdom, power without conscience. Ours is a world of nuclear giants and ethical infants. We know more about war that we know about peace, more about killing that we know about living". ~Omar Bradley

This project is made not in the conclusion of counselling against war, but in the aim of creating awareness of what is. Those who initiate a war, those who fight, and more who suffer for it.

  • No religion, Christianity, Islam, or Bhudist call for war, they all call for peace.

I believe the true cause of war is our ego. We hinge our very "Self-worth" and pride on our religions and beliefs often without really understanding them, that if someone tries to discredit this religion, rather than reaching for the wisdom the words of the Religion preaches, Instead we reach for a gun, Immediately! Betraying the very beliefs we're supposed to be defending.

    Ironic,

  • YES! Someone besides me gets it!!!! When I searched on "Scarborough Fair" and "War" this is exactly the video I was hoping to find. Thank you so much for the powerful images. Amazing and unfortunate how timeless this song is, and how Paul Simon's counter melody is just as valid today as it was 40 years ago.

  • very true my friend, the type wars they've been fighting during the time of the song, are still fought now, though on a higher scale, then it was just mostly the vietnam war, now it's solamia, afghanistan, Darfur, Iraq, Iran, North korea e.t.c. e.t.c.

  • Resist to tyranny or submit to it. Free people must be ready to get their hands dirty to stay free... and we will! War stops genocides, topples dictators, liberates people from oppression. No pacifist ever saved a holocaust victim. Ask a holocaust survivor whether Chamberlain war right, or whether it was the "war monger" Churchill who was right. Freedom is not free, it exists only where tyranny is confronted, defeated and kept at bay.

    Semper fi!

  • Agreed, but there a vast numbers of times wherein war is brought by those who fought under the guise of "Freedom fighters" and "Revolutionists".

Peaceful protest do only go so far in the face of tyrannical governments, your right in that more than most A new war to end oppresion is often needed.

Sadly, greed ruins revolutions, and freedom fighters forget the cause they fight for.

    thanks for your enlightened input,

  • Thanks for the comment, though Islam itself not a war religion, it's simply the misinterpretation and exploitation of the quoran by it's so-called visionaries that has resulted in a war of false ideas and hate masked under the fascade of Islam.

  • and ever, ever and ever again, my friend dreamEternal, the people die in stupid wars like that, I like young and as a man of conscience HATE HATE HATE the war!! but i think that if i were adult hate it too or inclusive more, very more! war, aggg!! that is the sign of evil! My best besides for you and all peaceful people from my city, Arequipa, in Perú. Hitler, stalin, Mussolini, Bush, What crazy or stupid people can believe that war is good??

  • The song originated in medieval Scarborough. We're you there then? A 45 day celebration of commerce and center of business. Look beyond your own life span, deck.

  • I agree, except I'm an optimist (usually).

  • It is men's interpretations that cause wars, and the thinking that each one's own faith is the only correct "true" one and everybody else is wrong... it's so easy to label people by their faith and to generalize... so I tend to be a pessismist most of the time, even though I do also occasionally see examples of true open-mindedness and tolerance. I just wish I could see those more often!
