The British in America do not care what the British in Britain want because they are not American. Chinese in Taiwan want independence, Chinese in Taiwan will not heed to what other people think because they are not Taiwanese. It is not about ethnicity, it is about nationality.

@colguy11 It is comments and stuff like these that Taiwan does not want China to take full control of the them. Without them being in control of their own government, they fear that China will treat them like how they treated Tibet and Turkestan. It has nothing to do with being the offspring of another race.
