vegetable/canola oil for frying

1 egg

1/2c milk

1/4 cup melted butter

2 cups sifted flour

1/2 cup sugar

2 tsp baking powder

I think the pleasure of buying the doughnut is not knowing how it's made...

I know it's bad, but if I'll treat myself, I'd rather not think about the amount of oil and sugar I'm consuming.

@nn071388 - any kind of vegetable oil, like canola oil. you don't want to use peanut or olive oil because those oils will give their flavors to the donuts.
