"Kristy?"
"Yeah?" Kristy looked up from her phone.
"Kristy we need to talk."
"Shoot." Kristy smiled and waited for Mandy to sit and start talking.
"You need to think about what you just did." Mandy put her hand on Kristy's shoulder, "Nick loves you Kristy. You dumped him just because he possibly still partially likes his ex."
"Oh well when you put it that way..." Kristy gave her an exasperated look.
"Look I know it sounds bad but take Liz for example. She was crying over Justin last night and she and Joe talked and he told her that even though she still had feelings for Justin he understood. They made up and moved on." Mandy folded her arms.
"You totally just made that up."
"And what if I did? You don't have proof."
Kristy rolled her eyes but then looked down sadly. A tear dropped down her cheek. "It just hurts so badly to know I'm not the only girl he loves...." She looked up.
"Aww Kristy it's okay!" she wrapped her arms around her, "I know what you're going through! This has happened to me before but don't let him slip out of your life just because of this! He'll get over it, especially if you help him along the way," Mandy looked Kristy in the eyes, "and he needs you by his side."
Kristy sat back in her chair, "I guess this means you want me to talk to him."
"Ya think?"
"Fine."
Kristy got up and went to Nick's room. She knocked and Joe opened the door. "Joe...can I talk to Nick alone..." Joe and Kevin nodded and walked out the door. Kevin held onto Kristy's shoulder for a second, gave her a half smile, and walked out.
Kristy saw Nick sitting on his bed, his face red, and soaked from crying. He didn't look at Kristy. Instead he stared at the floor. Kristy sat down next to him, but still kept her distance. "Nick..." she looked at him but he didn't move. "I...Nick I'm sorry. I wasn't thinking and I was...I was jealous that you still love her..." Kristy scooted closer to Nick and held his hand in hers. "Nick...please forgive me."
Nick was still silent and then looked over at her, pulling his hand away. Without a word he pointed to the door. Kristy understood he wanted her to get out. She walked out of the door but looked back as he was going to shut it. Tears were streaming down her face. "I'm sorry Nick." He slammed the door in her face.
Kristy turned around and ran right into Joe. She burst into tears and collapsed in his arms. Joe picked her up and brought her into her room, setting her gently on her bed. He sat down next to Kristy and she put her head in is lap and looked up at him. "Joe I don't understand any of this!" Kristy cried even harder.
"Kristy he just needs time to think he's still getting over Selena and now he's worried that you might not love him anymore," Joe wiped a tear from Kristy's cheek.
"Did he tell you that?"
"Yes." Joe looked down at Kristy sadly. "Do you need me to take you to Starbucks?" Joe smiled a little bit.
Kristy laughed, "Sure Joe. That would be great." The two of them got up and walked down into the family room where Liz was lying on the couch and Mandy was sitting in Kevin's lap and whispering something to him. Kevin was laughing.
"Hey guys anyone wanna come to Starbucks with us?" Joe asked, pulling on tennis shoes.
Liz jumped up and yelled, "OOOO! I do!"
The three left and Mandy and Kevin looked relieved. Once they were out the door Kevin looked at Mandy and she grinned, wrapping her arms around him and kissing him passionately. They had kissed for several minutes before Nick walked in. "Holy crap! Warn a guy!" Nick yelled, shielding his eyes. Mandy blushed but got a worried look on her face when she saw Nick's face was red and his eyes were puffy from crying.
"Hey Kevin...can I talk to Nick in private?"
"Okay...but don't be long!" Kevin winked at Mandy and then walked out.
Mandy turned to Nick and said, "Sit down Nick." She patted next to herself on the couch and Nick sat. "Why didn't you get back with Kristy?"
Nick sighed and rested his head against the wall behind the couch, closing his eyes.
I don't know. I'm just worried that she doesn't love me anymore! She told me that she and I could never be as long as I still had feelings for Selena...I understand that but, it's so hard to let go...." Nick looked over at Mandy. "I don't know what to do."
Mandy thought for a moment and then concluded, "You need closure."
"What the heck is closure?" Nick asked, raising an eyebrow.
"It's like...letting go by talking about it with whom ever is causing you trouble." Mandy put her arm around Nick, "And if you need help talking to Selena, you always have your brothers and even Liz, Kristy, and I."
"Thanks Mandy," Nick tried to smile but it was very strained.
"Alright, well I got to get back to making out with Kevin so...move along!" Mandy pushed Nick up and yelled, "Kevin get that cute little tush in here!" Nick stared at her. Mandy clapped her hand over her mouth, "I'm spending too much time with Liz."
