This town of over 1000 houses, 2 churches, 14 chapels, and 2 schools, was completely deserted in 1923 when the 25,000 Greek inhabitants living there were repatriated from Turkey to Greece through a massive government mandated population exchange between the two countries following the Greek war of independence. / Miasto tysiąca domów, 2 kościołów, 14 kaplic i 2 szkół zostało opuszczone przez 25 tysięcy Greków zmuszonych do opuszczenia tych terenów po wojnie grecko - tureckiej w 1923 roku na podstawie międzyrządowego porozumienia.
