I John 1:3 says, "All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made".
Hebrews 11:3, "Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear."
This is an interesting, and challenging question. It comes to us from a child, although I believe many adults are also searching for an answer. One of man's most fundamental needs is to have a purpose in life, and to know why he is here and what life is all about. In our complex world today it is more difficult than ever to find an answer to such questions. We must look to the Scriptures for the answer.
I believe that God has given indication of his purpose in creating the universe in the Scriptures. Consider Revelation 4:11:
Revelation 4:11 (NASB)
11 "Worthy art Thou, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for Thou didst create all things, and because of Thy will they existed, and were created."
All things came into being through the will of God. It was God's pleasure that the universe and everything in it be created. He therefore had a purpose in mind. Isaiah 45:18 tells us:
Isaiah 45:18(NASB)
18 For thus says the LORD, who created the heavens (He is the God who formed the earth and made it, He established it and did not create it a waste place, But formed it to be inhabited), "I am the LORD, and there is none else.
God's purpose in creating the world was that it might be inhabited. It was therefore God's desires that the living creatures of the world would bring him pleasure. Psalm 147:10:
Psalm 147:10(NASB)
10 He does not delight in the strength of the horse; He does not take pleasure in the legs of a man.
This verse tells us that God does not derive his pleasure from the strength of horses, or of men, but verse eleven of this same Psalm says:
Psalm 147:11(NASB)
11 The LORD favors those who fear Him, Those who wait for His lovingkindness
Here is the purpose of God's creation .....man. Obedient man. It was only man who was "created in the image of God" (Gen. 1:27). All other things were created for man's use and control. Psalm 8:6-8 tells us:
Psalm 8:6-8(NASB)
6 Thou dost make him to rule over the works of Thy hands; Thou hast put all things under his feet,
7 All sheep and oxen, And also the beasts of the field,
8 The birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, Whatever passes through the paths of the seas.
This helps us to see God's purpose. The entire universe was intended by God to be used by man. The Scriptures tell us that even Angels were created for man, Hebrews 1:14:
Heb. 1:14(NASB)
14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent out to render service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation?

  • @donf48 Man didnt make a science in opposition to God. Scientific experiments are made objectively, not subjectively. Scientists dont believe in what they want to believe in (Heaven), they believe in the facts and observations. If science is in opposition to God, than that will mean God may not exist. As simple as that.

  • God made us out of love he doesnt need a reason to make a bunch of people for nothing he doesn't need a reason to make us for somthing because Gods nature is love, many people who believe in God are getting killed in some place all due to who they praise for God does it hurt him yes but it shows him that his creation loves him to death. Love has no boundaries it's eternal

  • @DreamingOutLoud33 This is so true, and even for those who don't believe in him, you must agree that following his word would make this world a better place

  • Godd??? Well come to Theravada Buddhism.. that' s is the religion of 21 century.. that dose not cross science at all.. doesn't need anything to change time to time like most of other religion have to. it's depends on the fact and the result.. in lows of universe. just like science.

  • @101mortalkombat Yes "I" would but no one can say if anyone else but yourself would. this is because nobody knows the hearts of any other man but himself and God. but to answer this from where you are comming from it isbasically the same question of why God allows hurt and anguish etc. and this has been answered. God created us in the beginning with a perfect relationship with him, but "man" chose to screw everything up and since then we are cursed.

  • @101mortalkombat from someone with experience-no,no you wouldnt

  • let me ask u this if u had a horrible life like if u had nothin and everybody hated u for no reason why would god give u that life also if u had a family that didn't love u why do u think god gave that horrible life would u still believe him

  • Romans 1:20 "Ever since the creation of the world, his invisible attributes of eternal power and divinity have been able to be understood and perceived in what he has made. As a result, they have no excuse"
