They also use elbows, headbuts and attacks to the groin (if Physical index difference is over 30), so it has way more striking than regular kyokushinkai competition.

where can i find a kudo shool in new york

@ryuendaiko i wore a helmet for several periods when i had a bad cut or a broken nose and its next to impossible to develope good defense in them, its all out attack(what you want in self defense).Youll get way better striking with boxing gloves, with mma gloves you cover with forearms not gloves if you were taught properly.Id love to try kudo as ive a long background in grappling as we as kickboxing,it looks fun

@billysue2 I agree with you to a certain extent. The helmets take alot of the pain out of a punch.SOME guys who only train in helmets tend to develop sloppy defence. But the helmets are good in some respects. You can use full contact elbows! Also with gloves its easy to cover up and hide behind them. A dangerous habit for mma fighters. So both methods have pros and cons.Thats why we train with 16 oz gloves 2 days a week. Still there are some helmet trained fighters in Kudo with excellent striking.

@shuriken86 depends on rules,in a full contact fight without grappling they wouldnt be up to thai lads due to the helmets totally killing any decent boxing technique. You cant learn to strike in those helmets .

@billysue2 you can get knocked out with the helmet, it only reduces injuries to the face.
