@CommentClown but yeah i know how annoying employees trying to get people a store card can be i almost walked out of shoppers and had to lie about being underage xD
@CommentClown chase owns sears cards =/ and i know how annoying it is when the sales pressure turns into the stupid credit card thing...but then again why would you default and pay the 29% interest (thats the interest on a sears card in canada)
That would surely be a more practical approach. Sometimes I get more focused on the principle of the situation. Why in the world is Sears derailing a guaranteed sale to give me a credit card??? Because, they've figured out that putting their client's finances into a shambles is a more profitable business then just selling blinds and lawn mowers.
It doesn't matter how you cut it, any company that offers money at 20+% interest is not your friend. They're flinging you off a cliff!
I tried twice today to call to order something from a catalog. First time, the employee jumped right into a Sears credit card offer and expressed little interest in my actual order. So I hung up.
The second call, the lady got 75% of the way through my order, then derailed the discussion into an offer for a Mastercard. Again, I hung up.
So anybody who is thinking of ordering from Sears, just know that they want your 20+% interest, not just your retail sale. I'll never call again.
Since the loss of the USA parent, Sears Canada is a orphan child. Too bad they don't understand their past good customer service.
These stores now are just BIG clearance centers, their online ordering system is messed up, and their responses to inquiry are a muted response based on company mantra.
They sure aren't telling the real story of Sears. The corporate assholes make huge dollars and pay the assholes who work there next to nothing. "Corporate Policy" is a lie that is only used when it benefits the people who are making the big bucks.
I love Sears, they have such good deals now too.

I don't remember the last time I bought something from Sears; in about 2 years this company will be history.
