New Maryland-Sunbury West MLA Jack Carr says thank you in the New Brunswick Legislature for the Dec 2010 flood relief efforts in his riding.
JACK CARR: I want to commend the many people in my riding and the province who have helped with the flood relief that is still under way. Recovery can be a long and difficult process, but as Premier Alward said yesterday, we are here to help.
Many New Brunswickers have gone above and beyond to help. Many parts of New Maryland-Sunbury West were hit with flooded basements, power outages, and road washouts.
I would like to say thank-you to the many volunteers, including the Red Cross, neighbours, fire and police departments, the Department of Transportation road crews, the Department of Public Safety, EMO officials, private contractors, NB Power crews, and all others who have helped our neighbours in need.
People need to know that these people have worked long hours and are still
working long hours to help those in need. We cannot say enough thanks for that.
I want to remind residents to put in a claim for damages by contacting Service New Brunswick.
Under the leadership of David Alward and all of our members, including those on this side of the House and on the other side, I want to say that we are all dedicated to quickly and efficiently helping the people of New Brunswick during these difficult times.
