This is my sister in law Dora making tamales. You will be learning from the best. She makes tamales about once a month to sell. This video gives me an opportunity to introduce you to my much loved mother in law, Reyes. She is more like a mom to me than an in law. I hope you will try to make these at least once. I know my exercising , healthy eating you tube sister won't be able to eat them right now. Maybe as a treat for Christmas. If you have any questions just email.

  • Yes you can.

  • Hi can i use shorting instead of lard??

  • @vidakone419 Yes you can.

  • Yes, the masa was bought like that. It isn't considered prepared because you still have to add manteca broth and salt and additional kneading is required. You can buy it prepared with manteca and so forth. It is more expensive and not as good, My family has never made it from the dry product because there is so many places to buy already partly ready.. Thanks for your question

  • If I want to do like 5 dz tamales how much baking soda and powder would I need? What kind of chiles do you use? My Tia says to use Cascabel pero cuantas uso?

  • I noticed that before you added all the ingredients to the masa, it already looked moist. How did you prepare it prior to the salt, manteca etc.? was it bought pre-made. Really enjoyed the video thank you
