If you could I would like a comment on their view -VS- yours on the "slot swing."
Naturally I keep coming back to you because I really hate thinking so much when I know I can nail my targets and distances without so much technical dribble. I combine your practices with Freddy Couple's two movements - "Left Shoulder passing under the chin going back - legs quiet - but not deliberately; then rotate hips forward." That combined with your set up techniues and I am GROVIN!
Thanks

Now to Mr. McCain's point - he demonstrates that nearly all of the PGA greats past and present drop their right elbow into a slot and it is pretty effective.
The problems with the inside slot swing is that it really encourages a hook - much like Calvin Peete's. The problem with Hogan's secret is distance - although with the technique one can be as accurate as he and Moe Norman - it is quite impressive - but again - painful - for me.

It took me a while.
I also read a lot of other folks and now have a question about your definition of "CRASH" vs - Jim McClain's Inside slot swing. He actually encourages the right elbow to drop - in fact he insists on it "crashing" into the right hip.

Hi Shawn,
I am a big fan of yours. I have been watching your stuff off and on for much of the last year - as long as I have been playing. This time a year ago I was shootng 157 - and now I have a 2.5 handicap at my club. Most of the recent success I owe to you and my actually understaqnding what you are talking about.

Hey Shawn, I joined the forum a week or so ago. I just had a question/observation. I've doing your method for a few years now and I just noticed in this drill that you don't get the shoulder under the chin. I've always tried to do this and never had good results. Taking this "new" shoulder position now! My iron contact should be better. Tim

@aallenlenth We just had a nice thread on this in my forum; we talked about Harvey Penick's magic move which is pretty much what Jim McLean interpreted in both his video analysis of so many players and Mr. Penick's description of the move; see "Arms falling down plane;shawn clement" for the description and see more videos in the thread! Thank you for your comments and kind words! Shawn

Shawn,
(forgive this overly-technical question that may be better suited for forum!)
as a golf professional i feel i am "whipping" club with effortless power. ball flight indicates solid attack angle as well. HOWEVER, still hitting ball high on face with driver. any video recommendation or suggestions. hope you have a great season.

@steckleinjr I would look at the set up and make sure that your arm-club unit with the driver is PRE-DEPLOYED OUTWARD; the distance of the hands from the body cannot be the same with all clubs and many of my students do not allow for enough room between themselves and their longer clubs; see "set-up for all clubs; shawn clement" and "taut swing philosophy; shawn clement' as well as "swing plane; shawn clement" and "feel the swing plane; shawn clement"; discuss the findings in the forum too! :)

Question Shawn, What about using your waist as the power source. Should the waist begin turning only as the elbows are about to touch them because i've noticed that the pros will begin turning the waist at the top of downswing transition.

@fishblade2 I understand the need to try and figure this out by many golfers; but the fact of the matter is that you are already wired to do exactly the right amount at the right time and intensity depending on your target and choice of shot; please see this very important video on the subject called "ridiculously easy; Shawn Clement" part 1 and 2 as well as "Hammer through; Shawn Clement" and "Throwing the club; Shawn Clement"; enjoy!
