Jacobite adventures 2011

Thought I would try for a movie length film instead of lots of little snippets (easier just to join them all together!)

The film is from footage of the Jacobite steam train between Fort William and Mallaig taken from visits to the area in June and September 2011.

There are several run past scenes from various locations, but the main body of the film is a trip on the afternoon journey from 24th June 2011. There's then a few more run pasts and shunting moves, finishing with some footage I was really pleased with from just west of Glenfinnan where the loco ends up running directly underneath me. Other lineside locations include Fort William station, the Soldiers Bridge (Inverlochy), Banavie Swing Bridge, Locheilside Station, Glenfinnan, Polnish and Beasdale (with some awesome sound effects at the last location!).

The automatic volume setting is reasonably high - especially on the onboard footage - so you may want to turn your speakers down a bit. Unless you want to savour a hard working black 5 in which case turn it on up!

Locos featured are K4 61994 "The Great Marquis" and Black 5s 44871 and 45407. The onboard footage is from 44871.

Good video that with 44871 making some decent noise but can I make one suggestion. When filming from the window, try looking towards the cab to see where the train is heading rather than focusing on the chimney. You won't miss any noise!
