I found the quotes (some of them jaded or silly) distracting from the darker more raw nature of the song.

To be fair, it's about more than that- it isn't just a confession, but rather about her longing to have a polyamorous relationship (hence her being so careless on purpose, because she wants him to be okay with her loving more than just him, instead of to have to keep on lying).
