@meeragrantham Ah, I did not know that he had performed in productions. Thanks for the info!

@bobsopera Obviously you have no clue what the essence of art is.

@BigD1st "I thik you really got the point he needs more time to become such a great singer but he ´s getting better and better "
You make the same mistake that most people make; singing is not just about having the best technique, singing and art in general is about the emotional impact on others. Potts has that gift,a gift that VERY few of the ones that do have a perfect technique don't have.

@zachindie Paul has done lead roles in a city amatuer opera house which he did about 7 yrs ago. I saw a video of him without microphone and without the many yrs of college training, and he is very good. I saw Paul perform live in concert shortly after BGT. and he was excellant. I saw him last Nov. Royal Albert Hall, and he sang arias outstanding, the improvement in short time is extraudinary, which shows how important training is. Your classically trained, very fair and unbiased. Best of luck.

@blichilde Paul Potts technically isn't an opera singer, but he does perform numbers from operas and remarkably well. He certainly should not and could not stick to what we call "pop music" for a number of reasons:
1) His vocal range and style certainly does not suit the pop genre.
2) He is amazingly talented and obviously has a passion for classical works.
etc.
Yes, I am a classically trained musician. And yes, I now attend one of the top universities in the United States. Educate yourself.
I thik you really got the point he needs more time to become such a great singer but he ´s getting better and better and perhaps anytime his name stands next to pavarottis if anybody else is compared with the greatest Tenors
(sorry my englich is terrible^^)

People might pick on him now, but as a professional singer I can say that this guy has an AMAZING instrument - and in ten years' time, all those haters are going to be eating their words. He's only in his early 30's! His voice will get better and better and BETTER.. :P
