In this clip the Hunley is brought to shore and a fair sized crowd has turned out for the event. The courageous men entombed inside the Hunley are finally given a proper burial service. Here at the LASH Conservation Center in the Old Charleston Navy Base the Hugely is hoisted in the into a tank of water where it will stay submerged during the archeological survey & excavation.

  • We think Clive is great too. He's lived the adventure and he's paid his dues. He spent 20 yrs searching for hunley. We've worked with him for nearly 6 yrs. Check out "Sea Hunters" Vol II for some great adventures in shipwreck searching

  • sherman burned the south to break the will of the southern people. The last slave to walk the streets of richmond virginia, was owned by someone from the north.. Maybe you have heard of him..Ullyses S Grant? Research the draft riots in New York in 1863, Then tell me how much the northerners love you.

  • RIP to the Crue of the CSS Hunley

  • @kens97sto171 Let me clarify. Whoever fought and died wearing Confederate uniforms that was caucasian....I am glad they are dead. Their death helped the north to win and helped free my ancestors from slavery. Any Black man who wore the uniform was obviously brainwashed/forced/ignorant/lied to. You have to remember the Confederates like to keep Blacks illiterate and uneducated. But any white man who died....I would have no problem tap dancing on their graves. Good riddance. God Bless America!

  • @gjhamilt WOW!!! you clearly are in idiot..... Maybe you should take yer racist ass somewhere else... These men were fighting for rights as well. You know nothing of what you speak of and clearly an idiot!!!! There were black Confederate soldiers too! they didn't fight for slavery but to be free from the government laws... So before you open yer stupid fat mouth do some homework. You know whats really funny? I'd laugh so so hard if you had relitives who fought for the South.

  • @mpd613 I think the northerners wanted the slaves for cheap labor as machine age was growing and they wanted more able bodies for manufacturing. I don't think they gave a damn about them as a people.

  • @gjhamilt

The Confederates were not fighting over slavery specifically, The fight was over the Federal authority over a States sovereign rights. We are a Republic of States and those states can decide their own laws, as long as its not prohibited by the US Constitution. And slavery was not included, it probably should have been. Your comment on their bodies being in the sewer is beyond despicable, and almost unbelievable. They were just soldiers doing their duty, just like the Union boys.

  • A Black man crying at the funeral of a confederate is like a Jew crying at the funeral of a Nazi. I'm glad they are dead. I am glad the south lost. If it was up to me their bodies would be in a sewer somewhere.
