  • Wow, third after Witt and Midori Ito. Quite an impressive start to Tonya's career. Too bad she didn't trust in her talent.

  • @mrjking She hung around losers and made some bad choices. She has found happiness now with a new hubby and baby boy.

  • Tonya Harding skating to Carmen and Ave Maria? Now I HAVE seen it all.

  • Great - she was a machine back then - nailing everything. So focused. I remember now seeing Tonya back then on tv and thinking she would be "it."

I'm sure she was the only skater who made Midori look over her shoulder - love them both.

  • I like her style here. Not sure what happened later on, but it's nice to see the skater she was.

  • She was such a great skater. It is indeed tragic the course she took later on, bad, horrible choices made either in desperation or perhaps with impaired judgment.

  • She's a champion to me! Nobody skates like her!

  • Absolutely breathtaking! Tonya's jumps were wonderful and the laybacks were beautiful.

  • What a tragedy her life is. I think if the politics had been taken out of skating, she would have won this competition. The commentator says that she is developing into a great skater. Hello. What do they think she is now? She was one of the most talented skaters ever and she mentioned that people always looked down at her. It is no doubt to me that this had a lot to do with the development of her ideas. She deserved to be where she should have been - a champion.

  • That commentator is Jo Jo Starbuck, and yes, she's great!
