I don't know where they got their data about there only being a dozen missionaries in 2009. I am a missionary here in Bogota, teaching at a school for missionary kids. There are over a dozen families, just in our school.
Anyway, I agree with other comments made here... whereas there are churches of hundreds of thousands of members, many are following a Gospel that is not of Christ... it breaks my heart to know that so many have died for the sake of the true Gospel, and many are led astray.

There are millions of prophesing evangelical christians, but many few are really christians. On the rural areas there is persecution from the guerrillas, especially FARC. But our principal need, is for preachers that preach the truly Gospel, and train the people on a solid teology, and then, we going to be so much able to preach on persecuted zones of Colombia.

i am from Colombia, and i live in Bogota, his capital city. It is very good the work of VOM on Colombia. But, i have to say that here in Colombia, we have so much freedom on the religious believes. In the principal cities, you can find two or 3christian churches for each neighbourhood. THe problem we have here, is the kind of christianism that has been planted: a light christianism. One of prosperity gospel, where the objective is to reach terrenal facilities. We have a weak teology.
