Whether you're unexpectedly out of a basic ingredient or have an allergy to peanuts or wheat gluten, there are times you need to make substitutions. Alton shows what will work when the staples won't. (With the help of three would-be substitute hosts and one sub nutritional anthropologist.)

  • Man, I bitch because I'm allergic to nuts, peanuts, and soy, but I cannot IMAGINE how difficult it would be to be allergic to wheat; it's practically unavoidable!

  • @ b33133rice

Turtle Wax was the traditional parting gift for the losers in many a television game show, in the 70's and 80's. That, and Rice o Roni, the San Francisco treat.

  • good old portuguese

  • fish sauce and miso has gluten......i havent been able to find some that doesnt have it in there.

  • @moyraangel that's a good point. Some people say words a certain way because either they have to from a speech impediment or because that's how the people around them said it when they were growing up. Besides whether you go to the honky-tonk (southeast) or the bah (new England) they're in essence one and the same (if that makes sense).

  • Oh no! IT'S BA!!!! wow he's good. :D

  • I love the "Thing" battle

  • @jeanfou1 Considering that he is not speaking his natural english I feel he does well. AB is a southerner and had a southern accent. Some of the pronunciations still come through.

  • @niceworkmicrosoft

In no way is it lazy. It can be regional, speech impediments, hearing issues, as well as other problems. Calling it lazy is like saying any other version of english, from southern, new england, midwest, ect, are all wrong and lazy. Which shows a sense of bigotry.
