This song worked so well in that masked ball scene. Sofia Coppola really knows how to match music to a particular scene. Its such a beautiful movie to look at...luscious costumes, ornate sets, great music...it really is sensory overload. Its a shame that it was so underrated.

this wasn't meant to be a "historical" film... a huge part of the point of the film was a nod to the Vivienne Westwood pirate fashions of the early 80's... HENCE using the music they used... HENCE the Chuck Taylors... HENCE using fabric colors that weren't used in the 18th century.... HENCE using actors that they wanted to use. It's ART! When I saw the Chucks, I knew what they meant
